What engine options are available on the new 2021 Kia Soul?
The new 2021 Kia Soul comes in six unique trims. There’s a base LX model, the Kia Soul S, the mid-level GT-Line and X-Line, the Soul EX, and the top-of-the-line Kia Soul Turbo.
All the trims, save for the Turbo, are powered by a standard 2.0-liter naturally aspirated in-line four-cylinder engine that churns out 147 horses @ 6,200 rpm and produces a peak torque of 132 lb.-ft. The 2.0-liter Multi-Point Gasoline Injection (MPI) engine is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission (available only on the base LX model) or a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).
On the other hand, the top-spec 2021 Kia Soul Turbo, as its name suggests, comes with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood that generates 201hp @ 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 195 lb.-ft. The Turbo also utilizes a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) system that provides approximately 10% greater output and torque at all speeds, resulting in better acceleration.

So which is the fastest 2021 Kia Soul model, and what’s its top speed?
When it comes to speed, the 2.0-liter Kia engine is surely no slouch. The Kia Soul LX, S, GT-Line, X-Line, and EX models can all do the 60mph sprint in just about 8 seconds, which is faster than most of the competition, including the Honda HR-V (8.5 secs), the Subaru Crosstrek (8.6 secs), and the Hyundai Kona (9.6 secs).
The non-Turbo models can even achieve their top speed of 120mph in 16.4 seconds. But it’s the 2021 Kia Soul Turbo that takes the cake, with its speedometer hitting the 60mph mark in a quick 6.4 seconds, thanks to its 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI engine.
So now you know that the 2021 Kia Soul is plenty fast.
