2018 Kia Sportage Mount Hope WV
An automotive manufacturer only has so much time each year to put towards remodeling vehicles, which means that not every vehicle can get redesigned or updated year after year. Considering the 2017 model year saw an all-new version of the compact crossover, the 2018 Kia Sportage in Mount Hope WV didn’t see any enhancements for the new year. But it still has all of the fresh updates from 2017, so even as a carryover the Sportage is still a fairly new vehicle.
There are two engine options available across the three Sportage trim levels. The LX and EX trims come equipped with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine capable of doling out 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, while the SX model is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 240 hp & 260 lb-ft of torque. Either engine option offers something different for different types of drivers, but there is a Sportage available for everyone.
Fuel Efficiency & Drive Systems
So, the Kia Sportage LX is the base trim level, which comes equipped with the 2.4L engine. It’s available with either a front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive system, which fluctuates the fuel efficiency it offers. With the FWD, the LX achieves 23 miles per gallon through the city and 30 mpg on the highway. With AWD on the other hand, it achieves 21/25. The EX trim level is equipped with the same engine and drive train options. With the FWD system, the EX achieves 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, or 21/25 with AWD.
The SX model is the top-of-the-line trim for the Sportage, and it’s equipped with the turbocharged engine option. That engine combined with the FWD system offers 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, compared to 20/23 for the AWD system. So, obviously, the base LX trim level with the FWD system is the most efficient option, but the SX trim level offers much more power.
