2017 Kia Soul vs 2017 Jeep Renegade
If you’ve ever seen a handful of anthropomorphic hamsters dancing to hit songs in an automobile commercial, you’ve probably heard of the Kia Soul. One of our most well-known vehicles, the subcompact crossover has a number of competitors within its segment. We thought we’d see how it measures up to one of its most recent big-time rivals, by comparing the 2017 Kia Soul vs 2017 Jeep Renegade.
|2017 Kia Soul||Vs||2017 Jeep Renegade|
|27 mpg||Combined Fuel Efficiency||27 mpg|
|130 HP||Horsepower||160 HP|
|18.8 cu. ft.||Cargo Capacity||18.5 cu. ft.|
|119.8 cu. ft.||Passenger Volume||118.6 cu. ft.|
Advantages of the 2017 Kia Soul
As you can see by taking a glance at the table just above, these two vehicles are quite similar to one another, and each has its clear advantages. To start things off, the Soul and Renegade each provide the same fuel economy ratings at 27 miles per gallon, which is a decent number for vehicles their size. But neither vehicle has an advantage in this regard.
In terms of power, however, the Renegade clears stands tall. Unfortunately, the Renegade offers an extra 30 horsepower more than the Kia Soul does. The Soul cuts that advantage down a bit thanks to weighing 141 pounds lighter than the Renegade, but not quite enough to turn the tide. What does turn the tide, though, is the fact that the Kia Soul does offer an advantage in terms of space.
Providing an extra 0.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the rear seats and an extra 1.2 cu. ft. of space for you and your passengers to stretch out and get comfortable in, the 2017 Kia Soul certainly has a leg up in terms of cabin dimensions. So, if you’re looking at these two vehicles strictly from a spec standpoint, then the battle comes down to power vs. space, and we leave that decision in your hands.
